The ninth ERCIS annual workshop was held in Luleå, Sweden, from August 22 to August 24, and included many presentations from various international members of the ERCIS network on their projects during the last year.

Among other things, the sixth newly founded ERCIS Competence Center "Social Media Analytics" was presented during the meeting. The Competence Center gathers expertise from multiple academic disciplines to strengthen the identification and analysis of misinformation, propaganda and the manipulation via online media. A technical focus is put on the development of advanced methods for the detection of manipulation attempts and misinformation as well as the development of approaches for ensuring transparency in social media.
