Multidisciplinary International Symposium on Disinformation in Open Online Media - MISDOOM

From February, 27 to March, 01, 2019 the multidisciplinary international symposium MISDOOM will be held at the HAW, University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, Germany. The Symposium’s aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners from communication science, computer science, and economy, as well as journalists and online media professionals. They will discuss current topics, technical advances and societal challenges in the area of disinformation in open online media. MISDOOM is organized by PropStop, HAW Hamburg, the University of Münster, as well as the ERCIS competence centre “Social Media Analytics”. The German Research Foundation (DFG) funds the symposium.  

Topics are technical and organizational means for manipulation and future trends in online-media usage. Furthermore, societal influencing, hybrid detection mechanisms and based on that counter-measures on disinformation and manipulation are also part of the symposium. Researchers and practitioners who work on these topics are invited to send original extended research abstracts, case studies, or position papers.
